Generating a Group of Scenarios

  1. Select the Project or Folder:
    • In Designer Navigator, select the Project or Folder that contains the group of objects (packages, mappings, procedures, and variables) for which you want to generate the scenarios.
  2. Right-click and Select Generate All Scenarios:
    • Right-click on the selected Project or Folder.
    • Choose Generate All Scenarios... from the context menu.
  3. Select Object Types:
    • In the Scenario Source Objects section, select the types of objects (e.g., packages, mappings, procedures, or variables) for which you want to generate scenarios.
  4. Apply Marker Filter (Optional):
    • In the Marker Filter section, you can filter the components to generate based on a marker from a marker group (optional).
  5. Select the Scenario Generation Mode: Choose one of the following modes for scenario generation:
    • Replace:
      • Overwrites each object’s last scenario version with a new one having the same internal ID, name, and version.
      • Sessions, scenario reports, and schedules are deleted.
      • If no scenario exists for an object, a scenario with version 001 is created.
    • Re-generate:
      • Overwrites each object’s last scenario version, preserving the schedule, sessions, scenario reports, variable selections, and concurrent execution control settings.
      • If no scenario exists for an object, no scenario is created.
    • Creation:
      • Creates a new scenario for each object with the same name as the last scenario version, but with an automatically incremented version number.
      • If no scenario exists for an object, a scenario named after the object with version 001 is created.
  6. Scenario Naming Convention:
    • New scenarios are named based on the component following the Scenario Naming Convention user parameter.
    • You can set the naming convention by clicking Preferences from the Tools menu.
      • Expand the ODI node, then the System node, and select the Scenarios node.
  7. Generation Mode Details:
    • If the Creation generation mode is selected, the version number will be automatically incremented, or set to 001 if no prior numeric version exists.
    • You can select the Generate scenario as if all underlying objects are materialized option if you want to generate the scenario as though the shortcuts were actual objects.
  8. Click OK:
    • After making your selections, click OK to begin the scenario generation process.
  9. Define Scenario Variables (Optional):
    • If your scenarios use variables, you can define them in the Scenario Variables dialog:
      • Use All: Makes all variables parameters for the scenario.
      • Use Selected: Allows you to choose specific variables as parameters.
