Source and Target Datastores FAQS
1. How do I insert a datastore as a source or target in a
mapping?
- In the Designer Navigator, find the datastore under
the relevant model or sub-model.
- Drag the datastore into the mapping panel.
- To make it a source, connect its output (right)
connector to a component.
- To make it a target, connect a component to its
input (left) connector.
2. When is a datastore considered a source?
- A datastore becomes a source when it has at least
one outgoing connection (a link from its output connector to another
component).
3. When is a datastore considered a target?
- A datastore becomes a target when it has at least
one incoming connection (a link from a component to its input connector).
4. Can I view the data of a datastore in a mapping?
- Yes, you can. Right-click the title of the
datastore in the mapping diagram and select Data.... This opens the
Data Editor, where you can view the datastore's data.
5. Can a datastore be both a source and a target?
- Yes, a datastore can act as both a source and a
target in a mapping, but it must have both outgoing and incoming
connections. A datastore is a source if it has outgoing connections and a
target if it has incoming connections.
6. How can I remove a datastore from a mapping?
- To remove a datastore, simply select it in the
mapping panel and press Delete
or Backspace.
7. Can I edit the properties of a datastore after it's
inserted into the mapping?
- Yes, you can right-click on the datastore in the
mapping and choose Properties
to edit its settings.
8. What if I can’t see the datastore in the mapping panel
after dragging it?
- Ensure that you have successfully expanded the
relevant models and sub-models in the Designer Navigator. Also, confirm
that the datastore is not hidden or filtered out in the panel.
9. What happens if I don’t create a link from the datastore's
output or input?
- If there is no outgoing connection from the output
(right) connector, the datastore will not be a source. If there is no
incoming connection to the input (left) connector, the datastore will not
be a target.
10. How do I view more detailed data or filter the data in the
Data Editor?
- In the Data Editor, you can filter and sort the
data according to your needs, depending on the features available in the
Data Editor tool.
